The Poisoned Chalice

The poisoned chalice did speak and to it's owner it said "drink deeper, drink".

From the chalice the owner drank and towards the bottomless pit of despair he sank.

You will forgive my poetic outcry but I don't get a chance to stretch my literary legs in my line of work, I don't wish to bore you with a long diatribe or a motivational tale.

In work, life and play they lie. When you cosy up to those who hold onto something you desire or you try to get on in sport through connections rather than merit, you are as they say only cheating yourself.

You may think the status it brings or the success from cheating in a sport and the money and fame that it brings will fill some kind of gap in your soul or give you the fulfilment you so desire.

This is a false dichotomy only by being true to yourself and what you actually desire can you reach fulfilment. Honesty, Integrity and a passion to achieve what you desire are what you require (unintentional rhyme).  If you want to climb the ladder to success through conniving and attaching yourself to those who lead then you might reach a level of achievement but you will never really achieve.

All you will be is a shill and a yes man.  You will not create, you will not decide you will only follow and to that end you will never know true happiness.

Beware of doing anything other than going after what you truly desire.  Or else you may find yourself at the bottom of life's chalice with only regret to quench your thirst.
